Association of Mediators in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMBiH)
The Association of Mediators in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in March 2002 with purpose of creating conditions for introducing of mediation as alternative dispute resolution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our wish is to provide citizens with possibility to resolve disputes quickly and effectively, trying to reach satisfactory solution for all involved in the dispute.
The Association participated in drafting the Law on Mediation Procedure, that was passed by the Parliament of BiH in 2004 and the Law on Transfer of Mediation Services to Association of Mediators passed in 2005. These laws regulate mediation procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina and transferred service providing to our Association.
The Activities of the Association of Mediators in BiH:
- mediation service providing,
- providing training and certification of mediators,
- providing special training programmes for judges, lawyers, end users of mediation and other interested parties,
- raising awareness on mediation in the country and regionally
- following the achievements in mediation in the region and worldwide
Members of the Association of Mediators are judges, lawyers, teachers, psychologists, journalists and other professionals who built their capacities to assist others in solving their disputes.
There are six trainers with years of experience in teaching mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Canada.

Nansen Dialogue Centre Sarajevo (NDC Sarajevo)
Nansen Dialogue Centre Sarajevo is not for profit nongovernmental organisation that promotes dialogue between different ethnic, religious, national, political and interest groups aiming at development of democratic practices and prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. NDC Sarajevo started its work on September 1st 2000. as a result of the training programme “Democracy, human rights and peaceful conflict resolution” implemented since 1995 in Nansen academy in Lillehammer, Norway. As a result the Network of Nansen Dialogue Centres was established in the region of Western Balkans in Banja Luka, Mostar, Osijek, Belgrade, Priština, Kosovska Mitrovica, Preševo, Podgorica and Skopje. The Network is supported by the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.
Strategy
The goal of our work is to contribute the higher level of national reconciliation and tolerance in BiH and regionally, and increase participation of citizens in democratic processes and institutions.
Target groups
The projects of NDC Sarajevo target groups having key-influence on situation in local community from the aspects of democratisation, respecting of human rights, tolerance and reconciliation. These groups are as follows:
- Local administration (municipal delegates, mayors and officials)
- Education workers
- Political parties
- Returnees and refugees
General principles
- Work in accordance to principles and methods of Nansen Dialogue Network
- Focusing on the activities in local communities, particularly in smaller places and rural areas
- Involvement of local partners that implement similar projects
- Actions in all segments of social life: politics, social activism, education, culture
- Non-discrimination in ethnic, religious, political, gender and any other issue.

- Cultural projects
All the activities are related to human rights, conflict resolution, peace building and its sustainability and tolerance in BiH and region.
